Summary

The goal of this project is to develop technologies and tools in the field of healthcare, which can significantly improve medical procedures in a variety of specialties.

The project consists of four separate initiatives:

  • Stroke Online to provide real time audio and video of patients in the first line of medical assistance, allowing for earlier diagnosis of strokes. This initiative will be developed with the Stroke Unit of Hospitais da Universidade de Coimbra.
  • RDFixer – Endoscope’s Radial Distortion Correction to increase the usefulness of computer-assisted vision technologies in medical procedures related with endoscope surgery. This initiative will be developed with Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra.
  • Retmarker – Monitoring the progression of micro-aneurysms using non-angiographic images to allow a more accurate and effective diagnosis of diseases such as diabetic retinopathy. This initiative will be developed with AIBILI.
  • Glautech to provide early detection of glaucoma by means of functional tests with a new and innovative device. This initiative will be developed with Neuroeye.
